CF Monroe Helmschmeid Swirl Blue Opal Ware Dresser Box with Painted Daisies

A beautiful Helmschmeid Swirl mold by the C. F. Monroe Co., c. 1900 dresser box with hand decorated enamel daisies and raised beading to the swirl glass top. The bottom of the casket is a powder blue that fades to the ivory background on top.
The trinket box has brass ormolu fittings with a working hinge and retains the bottom satin liner. Lovely early opaque milk glass.

Wave Crest glass was produced as an opal glass blank and was then hand decorated. Originally called "Opal Ware", this glass was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910. Much of the opal glass known as Wave Crest was produced by the Mt. Washington Glass Co. and was purchased by the C. F. Monroe Co. as undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by their artists.

Unmarked, mold design is featured on pages 86 and 87 of the book "Wave Crest: The Glass of C. F. Monroe

Measures: Approx 4-1/2" wide & 3-1/8" tall

No chips. cracks, or nicks. Paint is intact with the beading, top satin liner is missing. Little tarnish wear to gold colored brass fitting
