This rare Early Italian Venetian Glass Bud Vase is crafted in the Epergne Style attributed to Murano. Its intricate design features a test tube style vase with spiral tubes and cut leaves to create a striking piece. Each of the three tubes has a ruffle top and five leaves as its base. A beautiful and hard to find item with no damage! Circa 1880-1920.
A beautifully cased glass handkerchief vase crafted by hand and mouth-blown into what is referred to as lattimo glass, a milk-white glass invented in Murano in the 15th century to imitate porcelain, then layered with cerulean blue glass sheets to create an intense and vibrant color.
The form was originally designed by Fulvio Bianconi in 1948, a distinctive shape that reproduces the graceful folds of a handkerchief ("fazzoletto" in Italian) with sensual and natural fluidity.
