The front displays the whimsical, classic period rhyme:
"HALLOWE'EN PRECAUTIONS. To see a White Owl on Halloween Is a sign the witches are near. Throw a bottle of ink at his head, And all are sure to disappear."
The reverse features a classic divided back postmarked on October 28, 1909, from Weston, W. Va., addressed to a Miss Hattie Barnett in Lewis, W. Va., complete with its original green 1-cent U.S. postage stamp.
