A miniature portrait painting and wonderful early rendition of François-Hubert Drouais's Death portrait of Madame de Pompadour, Louis XV's mistress. The portrait is signed upper left area "A. David" and housed behind glass in a gold gilt brass ornately carved brass frame. The painting appears to be on wafer bone and well executed on such a delicate medium.
