$111.00$148.00
This original etching depicts an elderly gentleman in hat and jacket with his walking stick standing amongst a busy area on the streets of New York City. Referred to as "City Life" by George Renouard.
The etching measures 6"x8"(image), overall 7.5"x10".
The etching is unsigned but has a pencil number at the bottom, probably establishing its place in a series, which was a custom of Renouard.
Condition is very good.
This was purchased along with six other Renouard etchings, (some signed, some not) from the estate of a Renouard family friend in Batavia, NY which is about 20 miles away from Rochester, NY, Renouard's home town.
George Renouard (American 1884-1954) painter, printer and graphic artist was born in Rochester, NY but spent most of his adult life in New York City where he studied under John Sloan and Mahonri Young. His work often depicted life amongst the immigrants, beggars, and poor class of society. Renouard's work has been widely exhibited and can be seen in the Brooklyn Museum as well as, many other fine establishments.
